DisCatalog hilft Ihnen, den Überblick über alle Datenträger zu behalten und schnell Dateien, Musik oder auch Filme zu finden. Von jeder Datei können Sie eine Vorschau mit archivieren: Inhalte von Word-, Exceldokumenten (z. B. doc, xls), Vorschauen von Bildern und Fotos (z. B. jpg), ID3-Tags von MP3-Dateien. Diese Dokumentvorschauen werden von der Suchfunktion mit einbezogen. Lassen Sie sich in DisCatalog ganz genau anzeigen, auf welchem Datenträger sich die gesuchte Datei befindet und wo Sie diese aufbewahren. Titelinformationen von Musik-CDs und Video-DVDs werden beim Archivieren direkt aus Online-Datenbanken übernommen. Bei Video-DVDs ist diese Datenbank redaktionell gepflegt. Die Unterteilung des Archivs in verschiedene Kategorien sowie das Filtern nach bestimmten Datei-Typen hilft Ihnen, eine übersichtliche Anzeige von den archivierten Datenträgern zu erhalten. Einige Kategorien und Filter sind bereits vorhanden, doch natürlich können Sie auch eigene Kategorien und Filter erstellen. Zu jedem Datenträger, Ordner und auch zu jeder einzelnen Datei können Sie Notizen eingeben.
