Orange Date Cake 1 cup butter 1 1/2 cups buttermilk 2 cups granulated sugar 1 teaspoon grated orange rind 4 eggs 1 cup chopped dates 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup coconut 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup chopped pecans 4 cups sifted flour Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and other ingredients. Bake in greased tube pan for 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours at 350 degrees F. Orange Glaze 1 cup orange juice 2 cups granulated sugar Bring to a boil and pour over cake hot from oven. Cool completely before taking from the pan. This cake keeps well.
