Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) is an advertising-supported download manager program from SpeedBit.com.
DAP's advertising is embedded within the program. It does not cause pop-up or or diaplay ads outside the program interface.
To install DAP, users must either visit the DAP home page (http://www.speedbit.com/) or a major download site such as CNET's Download.com, where they can download and run a traditional setup executable. DAP is not bundled with any other "freeware" programs such as KaZaA or Grokster, nor is it installed via automated "drive-by-downloads" at third-party web sites. Per the EULA/Privacy Policy, DAP does track usage of the program as well as interaction with the ads, and uses collected information to target advertising. However, the notice, disclosure and consent are substandard and lack adequate notice to users of the advertising-supported nature of the program and the invasive data collection and transmission practices.
The installation and privacy practices are disclosed only in the lengthy and dense End User License Agreement (EULA) and Privacy Policy (http://www.speedbit.com/Dap7/Legal/DAPLICENSEANDPRIVACY.ASP).
